Buying New

When you buy a new vehicle from us, you have the option of extending your new car warranty with one of two 3-year warranties:

  • Standard – 3yrs / up to 175,000km cover, max $1000 per claim, $3000 claim entitlement (total) over the contract
  • Premium – 3 yrs / up to 200,000km cover, max $2,000 per claim, unlimited claims over the contract, includes Platinum Roadside Assistance

Whichever you choose, it starts when the manufacturer’s new car warranty expires. Example: If you buy a new car with a 5-year manufacturer’s warranty, and you opt for the 3-year Standard AHG warranty as well, you’re covered for 8 years total (5 years from the manufacturer, 3 years from us).

Buying Used

When you buy a used vehicle from us, we give you a FREE 3 year warranty (which you can upgrade to a 3-year Premium Warranty, if you like).

This warranty starts when any remaining new car warranty from the manufacturer expires. Example: If you buy a used car, and it still has 2 years left on its manufacturer warranty, your FREE AHG warranty gives you 5 years total cover (2 years from the manufacturer, 3 years from us).

If you instead upgrade to the Premium AHG Warranty with unlimited claims over the contract, you’re covered for 5 years total (2 years from the manufacturer, 3 years from us).

A Used Car With a New Car Warranty

The majority of new car warranties are tied to the vehicle. So if the original owner sells the vehicle whether privately or through a dealer, the warranty automatically transfers to the new owner. So if you buy a late-model used vehicle, it may still be covered by its original manufacturer warranty. (E.g. if you buy a 2-year old car, it could have 1 to 3 years left on its warranty.)

What if I bought my Toyota before 1 January 2019?

You’ll be protected by Toyota’s three-year/100,000km warranty that covers any defect in material or workmanship in both parts and panels. If you’re the proud owner of a Hybrid, we’ll cover your battery for a full eight years or 160,000km, whichever comes first.

What is the Toyota Warranty Advantage?

Toyota Warranty Advantage, is a five-plus years new vehicle warranty which offers:

  • a 60-day money-back guarantee (for failures affecting drivability and after repair attempts);
  • an additional two-year warranty on your engine and driveline (if vehicle properly maintained); and
  • an additional five years on the Hybrid battery (if annual Hybrid Health Check performed).

When does this new warranty period commence?

This new warranty period will apply to all vehicles delivered to a guest in Australia from 1 January 2019.

What has changed with this new Toyota Warranty Advantage?

Toyota's current warranty period is three years/100,000km, whichever occurs first. This is now five years/unlimited km.

The new warranty period is that we will cover for up to:

  • five years, any component that may fail as a result of a manufacturing defect;
  • seven years, the Engine and transmission; and
  • 10 years, the Hybrid battery.

How do I ensure I get the additional warranty under Toyota Warranty Advantage?

Vehicles used for private use have access to additional warranty coverage if the vehicle is maintained in accordance with the vehicle maintenance schedule as indicated in the Warranty and Service book and in the case of the Hybrid battery extension, have a Hybrid Health Check performed annually. Your Toyota dealer is best equipped to maintain your vehicle with factory-trained technicians, with special service tools, using genuine parts and at competitive prices.

What is the Hybrid Health Check?

A Hybrid Health Check is a detailed analysis, where your Service Centre uses a special scan tool to confirm the health of your Hybrid battery and Hybrid systems to ensure trouble-free motoring.

How often do I need a Hybrid Health Check?

Hybrid Health Checks are done annually beginning from the year five service then each year thereafter for warranty coverage up to 10 years, which is incorporated in your routine maintenance, so no need for an extra trip to your Service Centre.

Will I have to pay for a Hybrid Health Check?

Hybrid Health Check is free when conducted as part of routine maintenance service with a Toyota dealer. If a Hybrid Health Check is requested outside of a routine maintenance, there will be a charge for the labour.

Is "We’ll keep you mobile" the same as Roadside Assistance?

No. Keeping you mobile means that if your vehicle requires a warranty repair, Toyota will cover charges that relate to transporting your vehicle to a Toyota dealer, cost of the repair and a loan vehicle while your vehicle is off the road.

Who should service my Toyota?

Toyota Authorised Service Centres (we have about 300 nationwide) have specialist factory-trained technicians. We have access to the latest diagnostic equipment and specialist service tools along with regular Toyota updates. And we only use genuine parts. This all means that you’ll keep your Toyota in the best condition.

Do I qualify for the Toyota Warranty Advantage for my 2018-delivered vehicle?

The new warranty period only applies to vehicles delivered to a guest on or after 1 January 2019. Vehicles purchased before this date will still have the three-year/100,000km warranty period.

Any Toyota warranty (including relevant Toyota warranty periods) does not limit and may not necessarily exceed your rights under the Australian Consumer Law statutory consumer guarantees. If your rights under the Australian Consumer Law are greater than the Toyota Warranty Advantage (or other applicable Toyota warranties), we will always honour your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

What is the Bumper-to-Bumper Warranty?

This refers to the total vehicle warranty – that is almost everything between your vehicle’s front and rear bumper (subject to terms and conditions) which includes up to seven years for the engine and drivetrain and up to 10 years for the Hybrid battery.

What qualifies for the 60-day money-back guarantee and when does it begin?

For any failure that prevents the vehicle being driveable, and for any failure which has had multiple unsuccessful repair attempts within 60 days of collecting your new vehicle.

Is the Toyota Warranty Advantage transferable?

Yes. If you sell your Toyota or purchase a pre-owned vehicle while it is under the Toyota Warranty Advantage period, the warranty will transfer to the new owner for the remainder of the period from the original delivery date to the original purchaser.

These warranties do not limit and may not necessarily exceed your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
